Hey Mom…I see you.
I am you.
Most moms are the keepers of time and the documentarians of the family, without which, nobody would have any photos of anything.
Ever.
Having been there and having felt the regret of it, my goal is to make sure my clients can look at their images and truly enjoy seeing themselves WITH their people.
If you are anything like me, then here’s what I know:
You love your family.
You are striving to raise them right and to make memories they will cherish.
You want to build up their self-confidence by being affectionate and covering them in love.
Making memories for your kids to look back on is important to you, but while your kids will enjoy seeing photos of their life, they will also wonder where you were during it all (because you are the one taking the photos instead of being in them.)
Guess what? You deserve to be IN the photos, and to have your children see photos of YOU connecting with them.
I’m a storyteller…
I am a people person. I enjoy engaging and learning about people’s stories. Prior to taking my Photography business full time, I worked in corporate Human Resources for 11 years. I knew I wanted to work with people, but it wasn’t until I picked my camera back up (when my first son was born), that I realized my love for people went so much deeper, and my need to tell their story was tied to that love. I was able to take my people-skills and use them doing something that truly made my heart sing. (Read more on my blog post “MY WHY” )
You see, I have this genuine need inside me to capture every moment. I know photos are important, and I have learned that almost every parent has a desire to freeze time and soak in the moments like I do. I cherish every image I have of my kids; I only wish I was actually IN more of the photos (#momlife).
Of these two images below, which do you think this little girl is going to treasure more as she gets older?
We must remember that while the photos we take are for us to reminisce on, they are more for our children and the legacy we leave them.
Your Story Matters
I’ve had many clients share past experiences where they felt awkward in front of the camera. Some have felt pressured to perform or pose in a way that didn’t feel natural. Have you ever felt shamed for your kids having meltdowns or stressed that your kids weren’t looking at the camera and smiling? I know I have, and that’s why I strive to remove all the typical photo-taking norms and just allow you to connect naturally with your family.
Speaking of stories…
A bit about me…I grew up being the keeper of the memories. Ever since I was little, I hoarded all the family photos, and when the time came that family photos started to dwindle, I picked up a camera and started taking my own. You would always find me with a disposable camera in my backpack. I’d get them for my birthdays and would save up any money I got to get my film developed. Through Junior High and High School, I was on Yearbook staff and took photos for all to remember. I got my first digital camera in 2006 and was blown away by the unlimited number of photos I could take. It wasn’t until 2013, when I had my first son, that I finally got a DSLR just to document my own kid.
Like many photographers, my business started by friends and family asking me to take photos and grew from there. My life took me to many places and to many jobs, but through it all, photography remained a constant. I ran my photo business on the weekends and worked corporate America during the week.
In 2018, God closed some doors, but I remained faithful His timing and grace, not realizing He was doing something BIG in my life. I decided to take my photography business full time while pregnant with my second son.
God put this longing in my heart for Tennessee, even though we had no family or friends there. In 2020 we stepped out in faith and moved our family and both of our businesses from California to Tennessee and didn’t look back. Seeing all that God has done, I know now that photography is a calling that’s been placed on my life; to document the beauty in this life and to use whatever talent I have, to glorify God (1 Peter 4:10). I make my home in Spring Hill with my husband and two sweet boys and am serving local families by helping to tell their story.
Think we are a good fit?
